Important Webinar: The Big Picture of the Benefit Trust

In Fall of 2015 the CA Independent School Benefit Trust (CISBT) was formed, with support from CAIS and Cal-ISBOA, to bring group purchasing power and premium stability to Faculty & Staff at the independent schools in California.  The template for this program is the very successful effort in other states that allow independent schools and their employees to enjoy a wider choice of plans and significant savings. To be viable in CA, we need as many schools as possible to join CISBT so we are inviting all HEADS OF SCHOOL and BUSINESS OFFICERS to join together in a webinar hosted by CAIS and Cal-ISBOA.

The webinar will focus on “the big picture” allowing us to consider the rationale for the program, the long-term goals and benefits for schools who choose to join, and potential pitfalls this effort may face. We will not be getting into the details of the various benefits and plans available. We want to share the significance of what can be accomplished to help control the largest benefit expense in our schools. The trust has the potential to represent as many as 16,000 employees from 230 schools.  There is definitely strength in numbers which can ultimately benefit any size school and all those who join.

Many of you need the support of your school head and/or trustees to make this move. Please encourage your Head of School to participate in this webinar and plan to participate with him/her.  We know this a busy time of year, so we will keep this short and to the point. Success or failure of this initiative depends on developing a mutual understanding and support for the effort.  

The webinar will led be Tom Polenzani, Bolton’s Director of Employee Benefits, through whom schools access CISBT, and Derice Hogle, CISBT Board Chair.  Please join leaders from CAIS, Cal-ISBOA, and regional groups like LASH for these important conversations. Time is of the essence!
