    Accounting Clerk/Assistant Office Manager

    About the Position

    Laurence School is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk and Assistant Office Manager – one position, two areas of responsibility - who will be responsible for all aspects of accounts payable for our school and events.  In addition, there are numerous clerical and organizational tasks that this position will be responsible for, from copying to managing the CFO’s calendar.  The selected individual will work with all areas of our organization, from collections, billing inquiries to other departments served by the Business Office.  This position works with our Business Office team, and reports directly to the CFO.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • ·         Receive invoices and code and post them to the correct GL Account, prepare Accounts Payable, disbursements, mail checks, and file backups in the vendor file (the full accounts payable cycle);
    • ·         Handle accounting for the major Parent Association events, including the Spring Event, Holiday Boutique, Golf Tournament, and others;
    • ·         Work at after-hours School and Parent Association events, including the Holiday Boutique, Open House, and other events as assigned;
    • ·         All aspects of AP accounts, including, but not limited to, dealing communicating, and resolving billing issues with venders.
    • ·         Respond to billing inquiries from parents and assist them with related accounting needs;
    • ·         Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the CFO or School Accountant;
    • ·         Interact professionally with all School departments serviced by the Business Office;
    • ·         Reconcile School’s monthly credit card statements;
    • ·         Assist CFO and the Business Office in preparation for the Annual Audit, preparing audit lead schedules.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • ·         Two years of experience as a bookkeeper, either at an accounting firm or with a private business;
    • ·         Broad knowledge of and proficiency in Excel;
    • ·         Familiarity with being an Office Manager or general clerical roles
    • ·         Skilled with additional Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and PowerPoint.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • ·         Experience at a non-profit organization or educational institution
    • ·         Highly experienced with QuickBooks and willingness to learn other accounting software.

    Compensation:

    Highly competitive and commensurate with experience.  Overtime will be required on occasion.
