    Reports To:  Head of School, Head of Upper School, and Head of Middle School

    Position Type:  Full-Time, Faculty, Exempt

    Established in 1920, Bentley School is a K-12 co-educational, independent day school located on two campuses in Oakland and Lafayette. Bentley is an inclusive community that shares a vision of transformative learning and respect for the individual. Bentley seeks a tech director and teacher at the Middle and Upper School campuses


    Responsibilities for this position
    will include but are not limited to:

           Teach one course of Technical Theatre which would include: Lighting, Scenic Design,
    Scenic Construction, Scenic Painting, Props Design, and Props Construction

           Work with directors to create a Production Calendar for all productions

           Oversee the build and ensure timely completion of all scenic builds

           Organize and supervise load-ins, including delivery of scenery, props, costumes

           Organize and supervise strikes

           Oversee students to create and execute light and scenic design

           Facilitate multiple aspects of production, including lighting design, gathering stock set pieces / props, etc.

           Schedule Tech Week

           Create purchase list for all building materials (with Producer)

           Take on one or more aspects of the productions: lighting design, set design, technical direction

           Chaperone and mentor

           Maintain and organize stock of props, costumes, set pieces and building supplies including hardware and tools

           Oversee lending of costumes, props, tools

           Production Management of Performing Arts Department events

           

    Required Qualifications

         Production Management experience in a school and/or professional environment

         Carpentry experience in a school and/or professional environment

         Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s preferred

    Preferred Qualifications

         Strong organizational and community building skills

         Technical theatre production experience including set construction, painting, and/or lights
