Reporting to the Lower School Director, this full-time position in 1st grade starts August 1, 2018.
·Current and valid teaching credential
·2 or more years of teaching experience at the lower school level
·Willingness to support Mayfield Junior School’s Mission, Philosophy and Holy Child goals
·Professionalism and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills and qualities of a successful candidate:
· A sound knowledge of childhood development and pedagogy
·Experience with teaching and assessing all homeroom subjects: language arts, math, social studies
·Dynamic, engaging educator with experience in project based learning, service learning and collaborative learning
·Familiarity with growth mindset, deeper learning and design thinking
·Ability to differentiate the curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners, helping every child reach his/her potential
·Strong knowledge of and ability to integrate current technology (Macs and iPads) throughout the curriculum; Apple teacher certification desired
·Collaborative and creative team player
·Sense of humor and love of this age group
·Supportive, nurturing, and warm personality
·Experience in a faith-based or independent schools a plus
