    Westridge is seeking a Dean of Lower & Middle School Student Activities to join our community beginning fall of 2018. Reporting to the Director of Lower & Middle School, the ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and teaching experience to this newly created role. This position oversees the systems that support student activities and programs, among other duties and responsibilities. This is the perfect opportunity for an educator who appreciates the critical role student-led activities play in developing strong girls, yet understands the detailed planning and coordination required to create those meaningful experiences.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Oversee and facilitate the Lower School Student Activities & Leadership Council
    • Oversee the Middle School Student Government Programs including election oversight in collaboration with Head Class Advisors
    • In collaboration with the Dean of Student Support, facilitate the Middle School advisory program and the Lower School homeroom program
    • Under the direction and development of the Dean of Student Support, teach the 7th grade Study Skills class
    • Oversee planning and coordination of Lower School Experiential Week including managing both day and overnight field trips
    • Oversee Middle School Discovery Week planning, including but not limited to: organizing sign-ups (collecting necessary paperwork and payment), securing chaperones, serve as liaison between vendors and Health Office ensuring all dietary and medical needs will be met, manage transportation needs
    • Assist with scheduling Lower School and Middle School assemblies
    • Coordinate with Upper School Dean of Student Life Assistant for all-school assemblies and other events as needed
    • Plan 6th and 8th Grade Recognition Ceremonies including coordination of faculty, program details and entertainment (speeches, videos and photos), and rehearsals
    • Oversee facilitation of Middle School student clubs and participation
    • Under the direction of the Director of Lower and Middle School, coordinate LS/MS diversity efforts in partnership with Upper School Dean of Student Voices
    • Participate in admissions events as required
    • Manage Back to School Night program details and provide assistance as needed
    • Provide needed support for various Lower and Middle School activities including but not limited to the Holiday Concert, course registration, coordinating special schedules
    • In consultation with the Dean of Student Support, communicate weekly announcements to both faculty and students
    • Coordinate the various elements of Westridge’s after school programming including partnership with CEC, tutoring, and assisting with communication of Middle School sports offerings


    • §  Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred
    • §  3-5 years teaching experience required
    • §  Demonstrated understanding of the social and emotional learning needs of students, through training and/or experience
    • §  Previous experience working with upper elementary (grades 4-8) students, preferable in an all-girls environment
    • §  Excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • §  Ability to embrace a collaborative work style and interact in a positive and proactive manner with all school constituencies.
    • §  Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
    • §  Demonstrated experience and skill in the effective use of technology and integrating technological applications in the classroom
    • §  Possess a strong commitment to the mission and vision of Westridge School

    Physical Demands

    Some physical requirements of this position may be prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking; and the ability to lift 20 lbs.

    Schedule and Salary

    This is a 10.5 month, full-time, exempt position and is eligible for Westridge’s comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, vision, dental, and generous retirement plan. Office hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm; with flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Some travel required. Salary range depends on qualifications and experience.
