    The Director of Development and Capital Campaigns creates and oversees the implementation of all fundraising programs which include annual giving, the annual gala and auction, major gifts and capital campaigns. The Director of Development will also manage donor relations, donor cultivation and identification of new prospects.


    • Interact with Board members, senior leaders, and volunteers in the development process.
    • Serve as the staff liaison to the Board’s Development Committee.
    • Collaborate with the development committee on the Board of Trustees to create a development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization.
    • Develop and manage goals, timelines, and budgets for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fund raising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
    • Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the development plan to generate funds for the organization.
    • Design, implement and oversee all Capital Campaigns in conjunction with the Head of School, Development Committee of the Board of Trustees and any necessary consultant(s)
    • Engage the community to steward relationships and recruit volunteers for development related projects and events.
    • Focus on building viable volunteer structures to accomplish the broader department goals, especially in annual giving and for the annual gala.
    • Lead and oversee identifying, prioritizing, cultivating, requesting support, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors.
    • Hire and oversee development staff.
    • Oversee all prospect research and data analytics.
    • Ensure the integrity of the development related data.
    • Lead reconciliation of development gift data with the Business Office.
    • Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization
    • Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts.
    •   Oversee gift administration, including donor records, acknowledgement letters, mailing lists, and contact tracks.


    • BA/BS, MA/MBA preferred; bilingual English-French strongly preferred
    • 7 to 10 years of non-profit experience in fundraising/marketing/sales preferred.
    • Demonstrated successful experience designing and managing a capital campaign
    • Excels in the leadership, relationship, and data analytic elements that are required in a robust and successful development program.
    • Will understand and demonstrate commitment to the mission and vision of San Diego French-American School.
    • Be a collaborative leader who is skilled in building the structures, and attracting the volunteers, to accomplish the complex tasks associated with fundraising in a non-profit environment; demonstrate the ability to actively solicit and secure donations.
    • Possess outstanding communication skills (written and oral), demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, and must be a self-starter.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, etc.
    • Be experienced with fundraising software


    Salary range, commensurate with qualifications and experience: $80,000 - $95,000 / year.

    Same benefits as other employees: full medical and dental coverage; 403B matching after two years of employment; 5 weeks vacation; $4,000 installation package (upon provision of moving related receipts) if out of state; $2,000 if in state.
