      Position – Accountant

    Pilgrim School, a traditional college preparatory school located near downtown Los Angeles, has an immediate opening for an Accountant in the Business Office.  The Account is responsible for accounts payable functions, daily deposits, GL account analysis, tracking of donations, performing financial and statistical recordkeeping duties, preparing of account reconciliations, assisting with audit schedules and the annual audit, overseeing the purchase order system and filing

    Duties include:

    • Full-cycle accounts payable, including monitoring of accounts payable to ensure payments are accurate and timely.
    • Verifying and processing all invoices and expense reports, including coding, obtaining approvals and generating checks.
    • Auditing invoices against purchase orders and researching of discrepancies
    • Maintaining vendor files and preparing forms 1099.
    • Preparing month-end general ledger reconciliation of Balance Sheet and expense accounts.
    • Tracking of restricted donations.
    • Reconciling payroll and related accounts on monthly and quarterly basis.
    • Performing GL account analysis and recording monthly journal entries.
    • Communicating with vendors and serving as point of contact for staff regarding expense reimbursements and payables.
    • Processing student billing deposits, cash receipts and credit card transactions.
    • Participating in the preparation of audit schedules and the annual audit.
    • Ensuring compliance with the purchase order system and credit card policies.
    • Assisting with other projects or duties as needed 
    • ·         The usual and customary methods of performing job functions occasionally require physical demands, such as lifting up to 20 lbs.

    The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, three years of accounting experience, and a stable work history.  The ideal candidate is professional, motivated, enthusiastic, has excellent communication skills and is able to work effectively and cooperatively with others.  Proficiency in Excel, Word and Blackbaud software is preferred.
