    Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications

    Vision Statement – The Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for the development, execution and strategic planning of the school’s outreach and branding programs.  The programs focus on competitive positioning of Carondelet in the marketplace through coordinated brand management, internal and external communications, increased visibility and public awareness in image and reputation.  The Communications team is known as the most reliable source for telling compelling stories on how the school and its students live out the mission and for providing timely, accurate and engaging news and information for current and prospective families, alumnae and the

    greater community.  As such it is important to understand the unique opportunities and challenges of telling our educational stories in context of a women-centered educational environment with a unique mission to make a difference in the world.  The goal of this position is to create and implement a strategic marketing and communication plan that promotes further engagement with donors, students, alumnae, friends of the school and prospective students across multiple multi-media platforms.

    Essential Responsibilities and Duties

    • ·         Create a strategic marketing and communications plan for the next 5-10 years with annual goals
    • ·         Exceptional written and verbal communication who is adept at framing, positioning, and influencing
    • ·         Supervise the Marketing-Communication unit to be proactive, effective, responsive and accountable
    • ·         Responsible for writing all communication pieces, including but not limited to: bi-annual donor magazine, specific events promotions, proposals, annual reports, informational assets, collateral pieces, e-newsletter and targeted communication to our constituents
    • ·         Lead implementation of Carondelet High School’s brand identity, to ensure a consistent and compelling message, look and feel; ensure all marketing and communication materials reflect the School’s mission, vision and core values
    • ·         Stays abreast of business and industry trends and has an entrepreneurial mindset
    • ·         Develops and implements a comprehensive communications program that conveys the compelling and consistent brand message for all constituents (students/parents, prospective families, alumnae, donors, community at large) through a variety of vehicles
    • ·         Lead the marketing, communication, admissions, and public relation campaigns, and communication needs for donor campaigns
    • ·         Create, educate and implement Style Guide for Carondelet high school – for internal and external users
    • ·         Oversee and integrate the video and graphics unit to create unique multimedia content for digital and social media.  Some video editing and film work may be required
    • ·         Serve as an organizational leader promote, influence and create positive opportunities

    Administration, Unit Oversight and Accountabilities

    • ·         Will work with the MarCom Creative Team (academics, admissions, development, athletics, and student life)
    • ·         Manage a marketing and communications budget
    • ·         Develop metrics and processes that help measure communication, marketing and digital impact and reinforce the School’s culture of achievement and accountability
    • ·         Collaborate closely with the VP for Academics, Directors of Admissions, Alumnae Engagement, Athletics, Development, Mission Integration and Student Activities
    • ·         Effective leader who coaches and mentor’s colleagues and strategically prioritizes tasks
    • ·         Identify and manage vendor partners who provide subject-matter expertise and services in support of the Communications/Marketing Plan
    • ·         Advise the President, and senior administration on communications and other matters as appropriate, managing with them all crisis communications and maximizing opportunities to promote the School and the value of its women-centered education
    • ·         Maintain and implement the Carondelet crisis communication plan in conjunction with Dean of Students and other leadership team members
    • ·         Demonstrates enthusiasm for collaboration and innovation
    • ·         A team player, who collaborates easily and contributes to the success of the School’s senior leadership team
    • ·         Oversee one to two full time or part-time employees

    Technical Skills

    • ·         Excellent writing and editorial skills
    • ·         Excellent verbal communication skills
    • ·         Social media proficiency (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Analytics) 
    • ·         Highly proficient with all elements in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Hootsuite
    • ·         Skilled user of Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google Plus and Instagram

    Qualification Requirements

    • ·         Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations or related field
    • ·         Master’s degree in related field preferred
    • ·         Minimum of five to seven years’ professional work in strategic communications, marketing, advertising, and/or public relations 
    • ·         Solid knowledge regarding the principles of journalism, communications and marketing
    • ·         Minimum five years working in a high school, college or corporate environment that required progressive communication strategies to a myriad of constituencies
    • ·         School experience is preferred
    • ·         Word processing, web design, social media and desktop publishing experience
    • ·         Outstanding ability to write clear, engaging copy for a variety of media executions
    • ·         Editing experience and extensive work with writers, photographers, graphic designers and printers
    • ·         Experience on an institutions crisis management team with responsibility for crisis communication
    • ·         Familiarity with enrollment and fundraising as they relate to non-profit, education institutions is a plus
    • ·         Demonstrated experience working collaboratively
    • ·         Experience effectively working across functional areas and departments to achieve results
    • ·         Ability to organize and manage many tasks at one time with a focus on deadlines and follow through
    • ·         Excellent leadership, political acumen, and diplomacy
    • ·         Strong organizational and orating skills
    • ·         Ability to get along with co-workers and other school community members
    • ·         A lifelong learner who is dedicated to continuous professional improvement
    • ·         Masterfully networks with community partners, prospective partners, civic and business leaders, neighbors, and prospective families
