Reporting to the Director of Family Support, the Assistant Director of Family Support serves as an important team member in formalizing and elevating the School’s ongoing work in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB). The Assistant Director of Family Support will work closely with the Director of Family Support to build, support, and strengthen the School’s family-facing initiatives, implementing innovative programs and services that reflect the current needs of the families and the school. They will collaborate with various internal departments, such as College Counseling and Admissions, to ensure equitable access and increase family engagement across campus.
An insightful thought partner with strong cultural and emotional intelligence, the ideal Assistant Director of Family Support is collaborative, flexible, and understands how to leverage institutional and community resources in order to successfully achieve mission-related goals with respect to issues of EDIB. The Assistant Director will have a commitment to EDIB, and will serve as a model of openness and acceptance while leading with personal and professional integrity, warmth, humility, and humor. The successful candidate will demonstrate impeccable ethics, superb follow-through and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality, specifically when working with families. This position is 100% in-person and requires flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work.
Strategic Responsibilities and Skills:

Translation & Interpretation Services:
-
Provide high-quality translation and interpretation services in a fast-paced environment.

Coordinate school-wide translation and interpretation services to ensure equitable access to information, events, and resources.

Translate emergency communications, newsletters, and conferences in a timely manner.
-
Work with vendors and independent contractors to secure interpretation services for events, conferences, presentations, and/or meetings of various purposes.
Case Management:
-
Identify and manage a curated caseload of families with acute, ongoing support needs. This includes working closely with and supporting the Director of Student Belonging to ensure student success.

Provide individual consultation along with appropriate experts, resources, and referrals to students and families seeking assistance on a broad range of topics related to their Menlo experience.

Collaborate with the Director of Family Support in identifying the necessary services to support and empower families.

Implement events, programs, and services for historically underrepresented families to increase participation in school-wide events and organize onboarding meetings for incoming families.

Serve as the school liaison for the LatinX Parent Affinity Group for one year, facilitating communication and ensuring their needs are met.
Administration:

Manage and track translation and interpretation services using our current systems.

Manage expense reports and budget tracking.

Support various summer family transition programs.

Assist the EDIB team with the administration of operational tasks aimed at increasing the department's efficiency, including calendar management, meeting scheduling, distributing meeting agendas, and taking meeting notes.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social work, human services, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.

Experience in a school setting is preferred

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Highly organized and a strong planner.

Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is required.

Flexible team player who can adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Pay range:
In the spirit of pay transparency we share the base salary range for this position for the 2024-2025 academic year. The full pay range, which encompasses all experience levels is $85,000.00 - $115,000.00. Within this broad range, we pay in accordance with what could be reasonably expected based on an individual's experience level. Base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at Menlo are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at Menlo School, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the generous range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for Menlo School in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
