Development Assistant
The Bishop O’Dowd High School Development Office secures philanthropic resources that propel the work of our faculty, establish access, equity, and belonging for our students, and empower Bishop O’Dowd High School to realize its fullest potential, securing the school into the future.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Office at O’Dowd seeks a Development Assistant to assist in executing high-quality events, fundraising initiatives, and communication efforts. The Development Associate will be an essential member of the Development team, helping to build connections and engagement with the school’s alumni and donors. The position reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and supports other staff in the department on various projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide project support for fundraising campaigns and initiatives, including major gift donor communications, the annual parent pledge campaign, planned giving program, general annual appeals and special campaigns.

Support donor communication projects through letter writing, mailing production, phone calls, and email communication.

Under the direction of the event manager, support event planning and production, including facilities reservations, database assistance, ordering supplies and materials, assisting with volunteer and staff communications, producing nametags and assisting with registration.

Under the direction of the alumni relations team, produce and track communication pieces highlighting alumni for the monthly e-newsletter and bi-annual print magazine.

Manage office duties for the team, including coordinating office supplies and furnishings, maintaining organized department storage and supplies, posting important dates to the team calendar, and supporting the coordination of team meetings in partnership with the Chief Development Officer.

Serve as an integral member of the team on shared team responsibilities including identification of volunteer resources, effective and timely follow-up and stewardship with donors, and maintenance of constituent information in the school’s donor database.

Establish and maintain effective, collegial working relationships with O’Dowd faculty and staff, volunteers, donors, and other external stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

2-4 years of administrative support experience, with preference given to those who have worked in a fundraising department or non-profit organization. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, preferred.

Demonstrates sound judgment as well as prioritization and problem-solving skills.

Ability to collaborate with others, work well in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, and be flexible.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

Detail oriented with proven ability to multi-task and stick to deadlines.

Comfort with learning and utilizing new software programs; experience with Raisers Edge or other donor database preferred.

Solid aptitude with Microsoft Word and Excel as well as the Google Suite.

Available for evening and weekend activities, with advance notice.
