    Position Title: Musical Theater Assistant - Long Term Substitute

    FLSA Classification: 30-40% FTE exempt position

    Reports To: Director of Middle School

    Position Purpose: Assist with Middle School Musical Production


    The Brandeis School of San Francisco has reimagined what is possible in an inclusive, future-focused Jewish day school, becoming an acknowledged leader in asserting the role of spirituality and ethics in educating the whole child. This position will begin December 2, 2024 - January 17, 2025.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    · Work closely with students: Engage and collaborate with middle school students, fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment.

    · Assist with musical productions: Contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of musical productions, drawing on past experience in similar settings.

    · Operate soundboard and technical equipment: Set up, manage, and troubleshoot sound equipment during rehearsals and performances to ensure high-quality audio output.

    · Manage large groups effectively: Supervise and provide leadership to large groups of middle school students, ensuring a safe, organized, and productive atmosphere during practices and performances.


    ● Classes co-taught with theater director

    ○ Tuesdays

    ■ 8:25-9:30 - 5th/6th grade

    ■ 9:35-10:40 - 7th/8th grade

    ○ Thursdays

    ■ 1:00-2:05 - 5th/6th grade

    ■ 2:10-3:15 - 7th/8th grade


    Important Dates:

    Mandatory Rehearsals and Performances


    ● Sunday, January 5th: 12:30-3:00

    ● January 6-9 (Monday-Thursday): 3:15-5:15pm

    ● Sunday, January 12th Tech Rehearsal: 12:30-4:00pm

    ● Monday, January 13th: 3:15-5:15pm

    ● Dress Rehearsal: Tuesday, January 14th: 3:15-6:30pm

    ● Performances: Wednesday, January 15th and Thursday, January 16th 5:30-8:30pm

    ● Encore Performance: Friday, January 17th: 9:00am-12:00pm


    Position Qualifications:

    ● B.A. degree (in music or education preferred)

    ● Teaching credential preferred

    ● Ability to work collaboratively with diverse members of the school community

    ● Demonstrate appropriate love and affection for children, have a ready smile and encouraging words

    ● Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all constituents in a school environment


    Physical Qualifications:

    ● Regularly sit, talk, move equipment, hear, interact visually and through movement with students

    ● Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs

    ● Regularly use close and distance vision

    ● Work at a desk and computer screen

    ● Turn, bend, reach and occasionally use a ladder

    ● Work in a traditional climate controlled office environment and outside in typical Western (foggy) San Francisco weather


    Details


    The school offers competitive compensation based on prior experience, education, and position requirements. The salary range for this position is $4,000- $8,000 over 6 weeks based on prior experience, education, and position requirements.
