We find great strength in multiple perspectives and embrace every opportunity to weave diversity in thought and action into our social, emotional, and academic lives.

    Job Description and Desired Qualifications

The K-8 Librarian will oversee all strategic and operational facets of maintaining and growing our K-8 Library program. This individual will manage the library collection and database, collaborate with teachers on implementing integrated library activities and applying instructional strategies, and develop and maintain a curriculum to instruct students in library skills. The K-8 Librarian will serve as an information specialist to the learning community in the selection of materials, online resources, media literacy, and other best practices and strategies for effective research and information gathering. This role is a hybrid of both administrative and teaching responsibilities. The K-8 Librarian will supervise and facilitate the professional growth of the K-8 Assistant Librarian. Additional responsibilities include keeping the community informed of new resources and other areas of interest via a specialist blog; working with parent/guardian volunteers to prepare for the annual Book Fair; coordinating other library events; advisory responsibilities in the Middle School; supervisory duties; and attending staff meetings during and after school hours as required.

This is a full-time, exempt position, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays), beginning mid-August 2024. The salary reflects the fact that this position's responsibilities in the library may extend past the last day of June Work Week, or as requested by the Lower School and Middle School Directors. Otherwise, this position is compensated for school holidays and closure periods in a similar fashion as the teaching faculty.

    -          Highly effective classroom management skills

    -          Strong communication and organizational skills

    -          Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

    -          Demonstrated commitment to creating diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students

    Desired Qualifications and Traits:

    -          Experience with project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching

    -          A growth mindset and flexibility to adapt

    -          Strong written communication skills

    Pay Scale:

The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the full-time position of K-8 Librarian is between $82,000 - $105,000, depending on factors such as experience and education.
