    Job Description

    The Long-Term Substitute Design Build & Innovate Teacher will oversee the development and delivery of the Design, Build & Innovate curriculum for grades K-3 and 7-8. The teacher will partner with the other Design, Build & Innovate teacher to support the shared 7th grade planning and a comprehensive, effective, and cohesive K-8 design curriculum.

    The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in a project-based K-8 environment and an

    understanding of developmental levels for each age. Additionally, the candidate should have experience with a variety of assessment strategies and implementing a balanced and integrated technology curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiation of instruction, a collaborative spirit, and an interest supporting the community.

    As a long-term substitute teacher, this individual will also support the K-8 community and participate in various activities including advisory and special events of the school. Additional responsibilities include active involvement in collaborative teacher meetings and supervisory duties.

    Essential Requirements

    ● B.A. in related field; Master’s degree preferred

    ● Three to five years’ experience teaching a S.T.E.A.M. oriented curriculum

    ● Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion

    ● Culturally competent, responsive, and sensitive to diverse populations

    ● Strong classroom management skills

     

    Desired Qualifications and Traits

    ● Strong knowledge of child development, especially ages 5-14

    ● Design Thinking background and/or equivalent professional development

    ● Experience in a Makerspace or FabLab

    ● Experience using hand and power tools, 3D printers, and laser cutter

    ● Experience with Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Classroom, and Google Sites), Adobe Illustrator, and CAD programs (ex. Sketchup, Tinkercad, etc.)

    ● Experience with 2D drafting and 3D modeling

    Schedule and Hours

    This is a substitute/leave replacement position beginning mid-September through December 20, 2024. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays).

    Pay Scale:

    The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the full-time position of Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher $72,227 to $108,627, depending on factors such as experience and education.
