    Redwood Day is a vibrant K-8 school with students, faculty and staff all learning together on our four-acre campus in the heart of Oakland.     Job Description

    We are seeking dynamic, energetic, playful, responsible activity leaders to cultivate and develop the inquisitive minds of a diverse student body in our after-school program. Join our dedicated team in providing a fun, innovative, quality program where children build their confidence through creative clubs, physical activities, and free play. Activity Leaders are committed to working in a multicultural learning environment, demonstrate flexibility, have a positive attitude, and a professional demeanor. Ideal candidates will have experience working with children in a school or camp setting, an understanding of the social and emotional needs of K-8 students, strong communication and organizational skills, and a motivation to work with a strong existing team.

    Essential Responsibilities

            Supervise, interact with and engage students

            Plan, develop, and facilitate creative clubs and recreational activities

            Help to ensure the safety and hygiene of students by following all School policies and procedures, including those related to COVID-19 health and safety

            Set-up and clean-up all program areas in compliance with the School’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols

            Communicate program needs to Director

            Attend regular staff meetings and professional development

            Assist with other School duties, including lunch and recess supervision, as requested

            Attend and/or help staff School events as requested

    Desired Qualifications

            A love of working with children

            An understanding of the developmental needs of K-8 students

            High energy and creativity

            Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills

            Flexibility and patience

    Schedule and Hours
    These are part-time (50%), non-exempt positions beginning immediately. The after-school schedule is Monday-Friday 2:00-6:00 pm with bi-weekly meetings at 1:30 pm.  Additional hours are available during in-service days and school breaks. The anticipated pay scale is between $21/hour to $23.53/hour depending on experience.
