    Salary: The salary range for the Director of Human Resources position is $130,000 to $150,000, depending on education and experience.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Human Resources position at Notre Dame High School is a regular, full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports to the President. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the employee benefits programs, employment practices, and workplace policies. The Director will also advise on personnel matters, recruitment, hiring process, compensation approach, and other matters impacting employee welfare or the work environment at Notre Dame High School.

    The Director of Human Resources has the following responsibilities:

    Employee Benefits

    Manage benefit programs, including annual renewals and broker/carrier interfaces

    Arrange benefit workshops and prepare compensation and benefits summaries

    Submit payroll information to workers’ compensation administrator

    Oversee worker's compensation claims and payroll audits

    Administer employee leave and disability requests

    Process retirement plan requests, e.g., enrollment, withdrawal, roll-over, loans, etc.

    Calculate and submit 403(b) retirement plan employer matching contributions

    Process other employee benefits such as tuition reimbursement, retirement distributions, etc.

    Manage the school’s employee wellness program

    Record Keeping and Talent Management

    Maintain accurate and timely employee personnel files using the school’s human resources software

    Coordinate fingerprint background checks, I9 and TB testing for new hires

    Maintain VIRTUS database

    Monitor the faculty and staff handbooks for updates

    Manage recruiting website accounts and coordinate the hiring process

    Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding

    Work with the administration to identify diversity and inclusion goals, achieve diverse job applicant pools, and support efforts to recruit and retain a diverse faculty and staff

    Advise on personnel performance issues and assist with resolution

    Advise on salary trends and compensation decisions

    Process employment verifications

    Insurance Responsibilities

    Obtaining and issuing insurance certificates

    Processing and maintaining student accident forms

    Obtaining statements and documenting employee or student accidents

    Manage annual flu shots and biometric screenings

    Gather annual data on employee health insurance programs

    Assist the Vice President of Finance with risk management practices and insurance assessment

    Coordinate business insurance for student trips

    Manage COBRA insurance for former employees

    Budgeting and Financial Reporting

    Under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance, prepare and monitor annual budgets for payroll, benefits, insurance and taxes

    Training and Compliance

    Post all required labor notices on a timely basis

    Administer sexual harassment and other training as needed

    Manage CPR and First Aid training as needed

    Monitor school AEDs

    Desired Education and Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field

    At least five years of experience in human resources oversight; educational institution preferred

    Professional human resources certification preferred, e.g., SHRM/PHR

    Extensive knowledge of labor laws and regulations, including but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, FMLA and Cal DOL, EDD, and OSHA

    Effective oral and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills

    Ability to communicate complex issues and manage employee conflict resolution

    Ability to work with highly confidential information is critical to this position

    Experience with diversity and inclusion programs preferred

    Strong research and analysis skills

    Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills required

    Experience with Google Suite and Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT preferred

    Experience with Human Resources software; Paycom preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions, including meeting regular, punctual attendance and qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

    An office environment with some filing, sorting, and storing documents and files would require the ability to move, transport, or position files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Light to moderate lifting is required.

    Frequent oral and written communications; must be able to exchange accurate information.
