High School Calculus Teacher - Waldorf School of the Peninsula

    Waldorf School of the Peninsula (Nursery – Grade 12) celebrates bringing Waldorf education to Northern California for 40 years. Our school has two beautiful campuses: early childhood through grade 5 in Los Altos, and a few miles away in Mountain View are grades 6-12. Our school is a full member of, and accredited by, the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. The school is also fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.


    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field

    • Previous high school class teaching experience

    Waldorf School of the Peninsula seeks an experienced, enthusiastic  part-time high school Calculus teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This Honors Calculus course for the high school is a part-time position, with a year-long course that meets 4 times a week for advanced 11th and 12th grade students. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching, parent dialogue, and collegial cooperation. Additionally, our school emphasizes supporting student achievement through redemptive learning practices. Some students choose to take the AP Calculus AB test after completing this course. We are looking for a dynamic individual interested in joining our well-established faculty within a growing and thriving Silicon Valley community.


    Job Duties:

    • Prepares and presents lessons inspired by Waldorf pedagogy and developmentally appropriate for high school.

    • Creates the year’s curriculum and develops lesson plans.

    • Engages students in appropriate intellectual, artistic, practical, and social activities.

    • Meets with parents at parent-teacher conferences as requested.

    • Submits quarterly and semester student reports/grades.

    • Attends events as determined by the Pedagogical Administrator.

    • Positive communication skills with parents.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

    The compensation range for this position is $29 - $58 per hour depending on qualifications.
