Part-time Music Teacher

    The Archer School for Girls is seeking an enthusiastic and talented part-time Music Teacher to join our dynamic arts department. This individual will be responsible for teaching Upper School Songwriting and Middle School Rock. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of music theory, composition, and contemporary songwriting techniques, along with experience in ensemble instruction. A passion for working with young musicians of varying skill levels and the ability to create a supportive and challenging learning environment are essential.

    Responsibilities include:

    ·         Teaching 2 courses including Upper School Songwriting and Music Composition and Middle School Rock Band

    ·         Developing engaging lesson plans that inspire creativity and musical growth

    ·         Conducting individual and group coaching and rehearsals

    ·         Collaborating with the Music Department to organize performances and showcases

    Qualifications include:

    ·         Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field

    ·         Prior experience teaching music at the middle school or high school level.

    ·         Demonstrable experience in songwriting and music composition.

    ·         Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments, preferably those relevant to rock and jazz ensembles (e.g., guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, saxophone, trumpet).

    ·         Experience in leading and conducting ensembles, particularly in rock and jazz genres.

    ·         Strong foundation in music theory and history, especially in areas relevant to songwriting and jazz/rock music.

    ·         Ability to teach music theory and history in an engaging and accessible manner to students of varying skill levels.

    ·         Proficiency in music technology, such as music notation software (e.g., Finale, Sibelius) and digital audio workstations (e.g., GarageBand, Logic Pro).

    ·         Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student collaboration and exploration

    Salary range: $27,707 - $49,608 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
