Job Description and Desired Qualifications:
The Long-term Substitute K-8 Technology Integration Specialist will demonstrate a strong understanding of how technology can support teaching and learning in core and specialist disciplines. The Specialist will bring a deep passion for working collaboratively with teachers to advance student learning outcomes through the use of technology. They will push into classrooms, co-teach lessons using technology, and work directly with individual or small groups of students. Additionally, the Specialist will teach a number of classes on digital citizenship and the impact of social media to students. The Specialist will work collaboratively with faculty to help them implement and integrate technology into the existing curriculum.
In addition, The Long-term Substitute K-8 Technology Integration Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and updating a scope and sequence aligned with ISTEE and CA State Standards for technology skills across the grades. They will also actively collaborate with our Technology team to configure software, evaluate existing hardware and software and recommend new programs. This model of technology integration will require a visionary who can be on the ground, practically implementing strategies and new programs to collectively advance the community’s understanding of how technology can enhance student learning outcomes. Additional responsibilities include supervisory duties, active involvement in collaborative divisional meetings, and participation in various student and community activities.
This is a long-term, substitute position, October 15, 2024 to April 11, 2025, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays), beginning October 15, 2024.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts
- Minimum of three to five years’ teaching experience either in core classroom or technology related discipline
- A natural rapport with children; understanding of developmental needs of 5-14 year olds
- Strong understanding of the evolving educational technology landscape
- Experience with Chromebooks, Google apps, Macintosh and various educational software to support curriculum and instruction
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor teachers in technology implementation
- Highly effective classroom management skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated commitment to creating diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students
Desired Qualifications and Traits:
- Teaching credential or Masters’ Degree in Technology Education (preferred)
- Experience with project-based learning, STEAM integration, and interdisciplinary teaching
- A growth mindset and flexibility to adapt as the technology landscape evolves
Pay Scale:
The anticipated pay range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the Long-term Substitute K-8 Technology Integration Specialist position is $96,720 to $119,600 annualized, depending on factors such as experience and education and prorated to the length of the assignment. Pay is in accordance with the School’s regular semi-monthly pay dates.
