This position will be covering for a teacher on a temporary leave of absence for the period of January 6 through March 7, 2025.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

●      Teaching music to students in kindergarten through fifth grade including vocal instruction, training with classroom instruments, and general musicianship, including theory, composition and music history.

●      Assisting with Middle School music electives

●      Creating a positive learning environment where students thrive

●      Utilizing repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary

●      Planning, implementing, and assessing grade-level curriculum

●      Preparing students for winter and spring concerts

●      Participating in all aspects of Bentley’s character education curriculum

●      Assisting in the planning and execution of Friday K-5 assemblies

●      Collaborating regularly with the grade-level teachers and other specialists

●      Attending regular Lower School faculty and grade-level meetings, as well as art department meetings weekly

●      Communicating effectively with parents through class webpages, and report card comment writing

Qualifications

●      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music and a minimum of two years of teaching experience

●      Ability to sing and play piano and additional various musical instruments

●      Knowledge of a variety of music styles, repertoire, and teaching methodologies

●      Experience in Orff-Schulwerk methodology or Kodaly preferred

●      Ability and willingness to work with students in large group settings using multiple teaching methods to reach a broad range of students

●      Desire to continually examine one’s practice with the goal to improve student learning

●      Experience in innovative course design, planning, implementation, and assessment

Pay Range:

Bentley uses a competitive salary scale, which takes into account experience, education, and skill level. The salary scale for this position ranges from $69,525 for teachers with no prior teaching experience to $140,000 for teachers with over 40 years of prior experience. 

Temporary or part-time teachers are compensated on the same scale, pro-rated for their percentage or term of employment.
