Position Description:
Marin Country Day School seeks a gifted visual art educator who is passionate about teaching grades K-8 students using a rich and rigorous studio art curriculum. We seek an educator with a demonstrated background and/or interest in studio art to support our lead art teachers in the classroom. Educators should believe in teaching with the interests of the whole child in mind, growing cultural competency, curriculum development, technology integration and environmental sustainability. Our approach and philosophy is process-based, centering around visual and material literacy, collaboration, thoughtful innovation, team building, and leveraging diverse and multiple perspectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Meet with lead art teachers regularly

Prepare materials for studio art lessons

Maintain the organization of the studio environment

In collaboration with lead art teachers, develop and implement lessons

Assist lead art teachers with student observations and notes in preparation for narrative report card writing

Participate in classroom preparation, organization and logistical responsibilities

Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that honors and nurtures each child’s individual identity

Develop warm and respectful relationships with students
-
Identify and respond to individual students’ learning differences and needs
-
Collaborate with Student Support Services to meet the needs of individual learners

Participate in regular team and/or department meetings and weekly faculty meetings

Attend Back to School Night
-
Participate in student admission process
-
Supervise students at recess, carpool, lunch room, open studios, etc.

Participate in assemblies and other special events
-
Serve on committees as needed
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of an undergraduate degree
-
Desire to pursue a career in art education
-
Strong preference for individuals who have completed or are enrolled in credentialing and/or advanced degree programs in Art Education, and/or a background in art making

Commitment to professional growth, reflective practice, and growth mindset

Strong ability to work collaboratively

Understanding of and/or willingness to learn a variety of studio art media and techniques

Associate Teacher salary for 25/26 academic year is $49,774.14 (80% FTE).
We offer all full time employees fully paid medical, dental and vision, 403B plan with 5% match from day 1, daily free lunch, 10 sick and 3 personal days each year and paid breaks (not including summer break).
