Learning Specialist - Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN)
The Lycée Français de San Francisco is a French Immersion College Preparatory School in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide a challenging educational environment based on the French national curriculum and the International Baccalaureate framework, enriched by English classes from PS-12th grade. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a well-structured, well-assimilated body of general knowledge while encouraging the development of analytical and critical thinking skills. Our students earn an American high school diploma, as well as prepare for the French Baccalauréat or the DP IB, which qualifies them for both American and European Universities.

Overview:
Our school is seeking a highly qualified and credentialed Learning Specialist to address the diverse learning needs of our students, focusing on Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting inclusive education, addressing existing gaps in support, and ensuring a balanced and enriching educational experience for all students.
Responsibilities:

Inclusive Education Advocacy:

Address the current imbalance in support for students with special needs, particularly in the areas of reading and language skills.

Bridge the gap between French and English support, as well as between elementary and secondary grades.

Provide support for a growing English-speaking audience, with a focus on mid-level ELL students dealing with sight words, basic vocabulary, and dyslexia.

Collaboration and Communication:
-

Maintain constant communication with the English coordinator, English teachers, and other stakeholders to quickly address concerns and exchange information.

Monitor and manage IEPs
-
Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented for students with IEPs
-
Coordinate with personal learning specialists/tutors to tailor support strategies to individual student needs.

Attend weekly student support meetings.

Attend weekly staff meetings
-
Attend parent-teacher conferences as needed and connect regularly with parents/guardians to offer resources and support.

Support and assist the faculty staff as needed

Any other duties regarding school life in general as assigned by the Principals or Head of School

Credential Requirements:
-

Hold a valid California Special Education credential.
-
Preferred: Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) credential, authorizing service to children in preschool.

Operational Procedures:

Conduct occasional screenings to assess baseline proficiencies in specific subjects or skill areas.

Develop and implement support tools for students with diverse learning needs.

Work collaboratively with the learning and wellness support team and referrals to outside specialists.

Campuses and Grades:
-

Serve Sausalito, Ashbury, and Ortega campuses
-
Primarily work with K-5th grades, with a special focus on pre-reading skills for Kindergarten.

Other duties as assigned.

Candidates with 3 to 5 years related experience in the education field can anticipate an annual salary, ranging from: $76,710.00 for 31 hours per week to $79,858.00 (Teaching Scale 1) in the current salary grid. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience in the job, type and years of experience in the industry, education, etc. LFSF offers a negotiated salary range.
