Westridge is seeking an experienced lower school math teacher to join our team of dedicated faculty members. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in mathematics and a passion for engaging and supporting a diverse range of learners. They will design and implement instruction that builds students’ confidence and mathematical thinking through student-centered approaches. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, values continuous professional growth, and is eager to contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom. The 6th Grade Math Teacher will inspire curiosity and a love of learning while supporting the school’s and the department’s mission and values through thoughtful teaching and active participation in our community. This position reports to the Director of Lower and Middle School.
The mission of the Westridge Math Department is to foster students’ ability to think critically through a mathematical lens about information in the world as they develop into confident and competent high-level problem-solvers. Students hone their abilities to formulate internal questions that probe their own understanding of new problems and to connect multiple modes of reasoning, allowing them to persevere in problem solving and transfer learned skills to new contexts. Students grow comfortable in making mistakes, develop their own positive mathematical identities, and take as much joy in delving into a challenging problem or puzzle as they do in the epiphany of solving it.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Design instruction that emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving
- Create hands-on and interdisciplinary project-based learning experiences
- Model flexibility in implementing best learning practices
- Support the well-being of all students
- Collaborate effectively with students, teachers, administrators, staff, and parents
- Participate regularly in professional development opportunities to maintain and grow expertise in the subject matter
- Participate in ongoing skill development in diversity and equity to promote a culture of community and inclusion
- · Participate in the greater life of the division and school
- Serve as a homeroom (advisor) teacher
- Take on other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required (math preferred); advanced degree preferred
- 3 years’ experience, with lower/middle school students preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience developing and implementing a responsive curriculum to improve teaching and student learning
- · Demonstrated competency in student and faculty work that promotes diversity, inclusion, equity, and community engagement
- · Demonstrated experience and skill in the effective use of technology and integrating technological applications in the classroom
- Experience in a collaborative and collegial environment
- Diligent and well-organized work habits
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs of young girls
- Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Westridge School

Schedule and Salary
This is a full-time exempt position and is eligible for Westridge’s comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, vision, dental, and generous retirement plan. Office hours are 7:55am-3:30pm; with flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Annual salary depends on qualifications and years of experience teaching with a range of $63,000 - $100,000+.
