    Learning & Wellbeing Specialist

    The Lycée Français de San Francisco Middle and High School, is seeking a highly qualified professional to serve as a Learning & Wellbeing Specialist. This full-time position requires a dynamic individual to provide comprehensive support for students' academic, speech, and mental health needs on the Ortega Campus. This role reports to the secondary principals. It is pivotal in fostering an inclusive educational environment, promoting student improvement, and ensuring a balanced and enriching experience for middle and high school students.

    Responsibilities

    This position's responsibilities are divided between two main areas:

    Learning Specialist Duties

    • Conduct testing and screening for English and French-speaking students.

    • Provide short-term remediation.

    • Conduct in-class observations (group or individual) and screenings.

    • Consult with parents, teachers, and middle and high school students.

    • Collaborate with outside specialists and make referrals for evaluations and therapies as needed.

    • Review outside evaluations for students and follow up on students with Learning plans.

    • Participate in various meetings and organize Personalized Learning Plans meetings for grades 6-12.

    • Create personalized plans for students.

    • Prepare accommodation requests for exams like the DNB, Baccalauréat, International Baccalaureate, and testing, in collaboration with the relevant departments.

    • Maintain students files.

    Wellness & Resilience Duties

    • Provide access to the Wellness center daily.

    • Ensure that the Wellness Center is welcoming, attractive, and maintained as a safe, supportive space for students.

    • Direct all school wellness efforts and activities, carrying out the mission of trauma-responsive learning.

    • Guide students and families in accessing appropriate mental health services..

    • Establish and facilitate Care Team/Student Study Team meetings for at-risk students.

    • Develop relationships with community-based organizations to provide specialized on-site services.

    • Partner in the development of a SEL curriculum for the school and seek out professional development opportunities for staff.

    • Organize information sessions for parents, staff, and students.

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree (including but not limited to Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Child & Adolescent Development, …)

    • Relevant health-related qualifications such as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) are preferred.

    • Experience working in an educational setting is essential, with 3-5 years of related experience in education preferred.

    • Bilingual French-English preferred and excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.

    • Demonstrated ability to assess and treat speech, language, and communication disorders.

    • Experience in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).

    • A compassionate and patient demeanor, with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with students, educators, and professionals.

    • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and diagnostic skills.

    • A dynamic and enthusiastic educator/health professional willing to coordinate and enhance the school's health program.

    Application Details

    • Location: Ortega Campus.

    • Start Date: October 2025.

    • Status: Full-Time, 31 hours per week, Non-Exempt.

    • Salary: The anticipated yearly salary for this position, based on 3-5 years of experience, is based on the combined responsibilities of a full-time role according to the Salary Grid 2025/26, ranging from $78,628 to $81, 854. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience in the job, type and years of experience in the industry, education, etc. LFSF offers a negotiated salary range.
