    Elementary & Early Education Librarian (Part-time)

    Position Summary

    The Elementary & Early Education Librarian is a dynamic, wonderful opportunity for someone who loves to read to children!  Our library is filled with incredible books lending itself to drive exciting adventures into literature, biographies, and of course, multicultural learning experiences.  We are looking for a passionate individual who note only bring story-time to life, but supports teachers and motivates our students to love reading through a challenging library reading experience.     Major Areas of Responsibility

            Classroom visits with Early Education students to include read-alouds, flannel boards, puppets, etc.

            Classroom visits with Kindergarten through 5th grade to include read-alouds, book talks, check outs and standard library lessons

            Maintain existing extra-curricular reading programs

            Organize and run a 4th/5th grade after-school book club

            Research and order new books and maintain current collection with regular “weeding” and attention to outdated materials

            Organize and run annual Poetry Festival

            Supervise, advertise, organize and participate in annual Book Fair

            Organize annual Elementary Book Swap

            Organize Visiting Author/Illustrator visits for both divisions

            Collaborate with teachers on curriculum units

    Required Qualifications

            BA/BS in Library Sciences or related field

            Master Degree is encouraged

            Teaching credential is welcome

            Fond of young people

            Loves to read and inspires others to read

            Pilgrim employees rely on technology for records and communication; all are expected to embrace technology and have competency in computer use for basic office applications.

    Preferred Background

            Ability to self-start and initiate projects.

            Understanding of budget management

            Experience working with children grades Preschool-5th ; will consider someone with Lower or Upper School experience.

            Fluent in English language

            Excellent collaboration, communication and organizational skills are required to be successful in this position.  Attention to details is preferred.

    Salary Range and Benefits

    The salary range for this position is $18-$ 21.25 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.  We do not offer benefits for part time employees.  Estimated hours for this position are 20-26 hours per week to be determined upon hiring.

    Timeline and Start Date

    Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Position begins January 2026 with training Dec 1-19, 2025 Please note that employment is subject to Live Scan clearance and reference checks prior to beginning employment.
