Summary of Job
The Director of Communications and Marketing will work closely with the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment Management and Community Outreach, Division Heads and the Director of Advancement to develop and implement a broad, comprehensive and strategic internal and external communication plan. This plan will create the basis for a marketing plan designed to promote clear communication and promote enrollment and fundraising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Communications and Marketing will:
• Identify areas of internal and external communication that need attention and support following an audit of systems in place.
• Design and write copy for a variety of materials meant to increase the school’s visibility and competitive positioning.
• Oversee and manage the direction and maintenance of Pilgrim website while updating content regularly and ensuring site’s accuracy.
• Oversee and manage Pilgrim’s social media presence, including creation of content, tracking analytics and community management
• Attend school events, taking photos and videos for marketing purposes
• Write, manage and edit all e-newsletters and announcements sent from school administrators.
• Work across all departments to promote student and faculty activities.
• Oversee and create emergency updates for parents.
• Collaborate with the Admissions team and the Development Office to develop strategies to recruit prospective students and engage alumni and families.
• Develop and execute marketing and campaign plans that engage internal and external constituents in the support and promotion of Pilgrim.
• Collaborates with Pilgrim Parent Association to promote various events.
• Coordinates with Advancement to promote various events.
• Oversee media relations.
• Oversee school photography and Audio Visual Club.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Common Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing
• At least 5 years of experience in Marketing/Communications with independent schools or other nonprofit organizations.
• Outstanding organizational and presentation skills
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in desktop publishing design and management of design production.
• Creative and artistic vision and direction.
• Proven track record as an independent and goal-oriented manager with a dedication to making deadlines.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings
• Experience with Adobe, Google Suites, Blackbaud, & Constant Contact - preferred.
