    3rd-6th Grade Human Development Teacher (Part-time)

    The part-time Human Development teacher will play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment and promoting healthy emotional, social, and cognitive development in our students. This person is responsible for ensuring that Buckley delivers to its 3rd through 6th grade students a human development program grounded in current research, employing best practices, and fulfilling the Portrait of a Graduate, the school’s mission, strategic plan, DEI initiatives and Commitments. This is a part-time position equivalent to 20% of a full-time schedule. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1.      Curriculum Development: Design and develop age-appropriate curriculum materials focused on human development topics such as emotions, social skills, conflict resolution, self-awareness, relationship building, relationship management, puberty, and reproductive systems.

    2.      Classroom Instruction: Conduct engaging and interactive classroom sessions that facilitate discussions, group activities, role-playing exercises, and multimedia presentations to enhance students' understanding of human development concepts.

    3.      Parental Involvement: Collaborate with parents/guardians to share insights on child development, offer guidance on parenting strategies, and organize workshops or seminars to enhance parental involvement in supporting children's holistic development.

    4.      Professional Development: Stay updated with current research, trends, and best practices in human development, attend workshops or training sessions, and collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1.      Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

    2.      Relevant experience working with elementary school-aged children in an educational or counseling setting.

    3.      Strong understanding of child development, behavioral psychology, and social-emotional learning.

    4.      Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and connect with students, parents, and colleagues.

    5.      Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping children navigate their emotional and social growth.

    6.      Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

    COMPENSATION

    The Buckley School is comprised of faculty who are brand new teachers to experts in their field with over 40 years of experience. The broad range which includes all experience levels is $61,359 - $128,581

    as a full-time teacher. As a school with a unionized faculty, compensation is determined in partnership with the union through the collective bargaining agreement.

    The base salary is separate from fringe benefits, such as retirement contributions, daily lunch, on-site parking, contributions to medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, our generous time off policy, or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Our pay ranges are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at The Buckley School, your actual base salary will be determined by your education and experience and will be pro-rated depending on your schedule/workload.
