High School Computer Science Teacher - Waldorf School of the Peninsula

    Waldorf School of the Peninsula (Nursery – Grade 12) celebrates bringing Waldorf education to Northern California for 40 years. Our school has two beautiful campuses: early childhood through grade 5 in Los Altos, and a few miles away in Mountain View are grades 6-12. Our school is a full member of, and accredited by, the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. The school is also fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.


    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field 

    • Previous high school class teaching experience

    Waldorf School of the Peninsula seeks an experienced, enthusiastic Computer Science part-time high school teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This new Computer Science stream for the high school is a part-time position, with quarter or semi-quarter block classes in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Each year’s course will have a different focus that will be determined in co-creation with the pedagogical insights from the high school faculty. This role also has the opportunity to  guide and lead the school’s Robotics team (First Tech Challenge) which meets two times a week for two hours after school and participates in full day weekend competitions throughout the year. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching, parent dialogue, and collegial cooperation. We are looking for a dynamic individual interested in joining our well-established faculty within a growing and thriving Silicon Valley community.


    Job Duties:

    • Prepares and presents lessons inspired by Waldorf pedagogy and developmentally appropriate for high school.

    • Creates the year’s curriculum and develops lesson plans.

    • Engages students in appropriate intellectual, artistic, practical, and social activities.

    • Meets with parents at parent-teacher conferences as requested.

    • Submits quarterly and semester student reports/grades.

    • Attends events as determined by the Pedagogical Administrator.

    • Positive communication skills with parents.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

    The compensation range for this position is $29 - $58 per hour depending on qualifications.
