Our student-athletes compete hard, but more importantly, they compete with a mindset of effort, teamwork and sportsmanship. Through their participation in athletics, they make lifelong friendships and learn many life lessons. The Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach is an important position that is responsible for spearheading the Boys Lacrosse program in support of the vision of Saint Francis High School. Compensation is $7,511 for the spring season.

The Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
FOUNDATIONAL
- Support of School Mission - supporting the academic, spiritual and social mission of the school. It is expected that the head coach keeps abreast of students academic performances. Finally, it is expected that the head coach support the spiritual mission of the school by coordinating a program mass, prayer before athletic contests and a varsity service project
- Establishment of Program Philosophy - establishment and maintenance of a program philosophy (philosophy, skills, techniques..) that will be shared with all levels of the program as well as students and families. All athletic department philosophies including those of effort, teamwork and sportsmanship should also be shared with our coaches, student athletes and parent communities
- Attendance - attending all required school, league and section meetings and being properly prepared for such meetings
- Coaching Candidates - assisting the athletic director in finding and interviewing potential coaching candidates in the sport
- Knowledge - maintaining a knowledge of all sport, school, league, section and state rules and bylaws
- Professional Development - continually updating oneself and staff in the areas of professional development
- Certifications - completion of all coaches certifications including the state CIF class as well as current First Aid and CPR classes
- Promotion of Program - coordinating marketing and promotion of the program along with the athletic director
OPERATIONAL
- Scheduling - establishing all non league matches, tournaments or games for the varsity, JV and freshman levels. All schedules must be approved and reviewed by the athletic director. The head coach is also responsible for coordinating with the athletic director on practice schedules for all levels. (included in this scheduling would be an alumni contest)
- Equipment - all equipment and uniform needs of the program. All equipment orders will be made in consultation with the equipment manager
- Summer Advanced Camp - planning, organizing and running a Saint Francis summer advanced camp in consultation with the Auxiliary Programs Director
- Summer Program - coordinating a summer program in his/her sport in consultation with the athletic director
- Pre-Season Program - coordinating a pre-season conditioning/lifting program in conjunction with WCAL bylaws
- Supervision - coordinating supervision of student athletes before, during and after workouts
- Paperwork - coordinating team forms for all student athletes in the program; responsible for verifying physical forms before tryouts and all necessary forms once season starts (emergency form, HIPPA form, steroid form, transportation form, etc..); verifying paperwork clearance on all transfer students; completing all school, league, and section paperwork in a timely fashion
- Meetings - planning pre-season meetings with coaching staff to discuss philosophy, expectations, teaching technique, the upcoming year, and any other issues seen as relevant; the head coach is also responsible for planning and putting on a pre-season parent/student meeting and an end of the year potluck celebration
- Support Staff - coordinating the support staff for the program (team managers, statisticians, film crew, etc.)
- Budget - coordinating with the athletic director on all budget concerns; it is also the head coaches responsibility to make sure the program acts in compliance with the stated budget
- Evaluation - coordinating a review and evaluation of all staff members with the athletic director
- College Process - working with student athletes and families in regards to the college recruitment process
- Transportation - coordinating with the athletic director on all transportation requests; some sports also require off campus facility and transportation issues)
COMPETITION
- Tryouts - administering a tryout period for their sport; the tryout period must last at least 5 practices and students must be given a list of items that they will be evaluated on during this tryout period
- Practice - preparing for daily practice with a written practice plan; the head coach is also responsible to attend daily practice and coach our student athletes in proper and correct techniques
- Scouting - scouting of all future opponents
- Game Day Responsibilities - coordinating all game day responsibilities for their program
QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have experience coaching at the high school or college level. Candidates should have experience working, playing or coaching in a values-based educational program.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate and an associate degree
- Certification from a state agency, NCAA, or other organization that oversees the sport
- DOJ/FBI clearance
- Relevant volunteer experience
- Communication skills, decision-making skills, dedication, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and resourcefulness
