    De La Salle High School, established in 1965 and sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Christian Brothers), is a Lasallian Catholic college preparatory school for boys providing a rich environment for spiritual, academic, and social growth. Its rigorous program of studies is complemented by an extensive array of co-curricular programs. The school’s atmosphere is one that is moral, caring, and joyful. The school is located in the City of Concord, 25 miles east of San Francisco on a 20-acre campus characterized by beauty and openness.

     

    PRIMARY ROLE

    The Accountant is a key full-time, year-round, onsite position that reports to the Controller and is part of the team responsible for the school’s general accounting function and oversight of internal controls. This person is responsible for processing transactions relating to student billing (tuition collection) and general accounts receivable. This person will also oversee tuition enrollment contract management and participation in the processing of applications for financial assistance. Other general accounting functions include accounts payable, miscellaneous cash receipts and deposits processing, preparing a variety of journal entries, account reconciliations, and assisting in the monthly closing processes.

     

    PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATE CHARACTERISTICS

    We are looking for a team player who has a collaborative nature, positive energy, sense of humor, and is self-motivated in the completion of his/her work. This person must be able to manage financial transactions and data, and perform analytical work with a high level of accuracy while meeting time-sensitive deadlines despite interruption. A successful candidate is a reliable professional who is collaborative, organized, able to prioritize many tasks simultaneously, demonstrates attention to detail, adheres to confidentiality, and has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Job responsibilities are assigned by the Vice President for Finance and the Controller who may, in their sole discretion, alter, add to, or eliminate job assignments at any time, with or without prior notice. The Accountant should be knowledgeable of accounting standards, audit, and internal control protocols, and all applicable federal and state statutes, familiar with the operation of the department, and is proficient with the technology designed to support that operation.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    A minimum of five years’ accounting experience preferably within a school setting and/or non-profit organization, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline preferred. The candidate should have experience with general ledger applications, including accounts payable, and accounts receivable, and be willing and able to communicate frequently with the Controller, Vice President for Finance, President, other school administrators, other Business Office Team members, as well as faculty and staff. School experience is a plus.

     

    The candidate should have excellent organizational skills and be proficient in: Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT software and Blackbaud Tuition Management accounting (or similar financial and billing program applications); Microsoft Office, including Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint, as well as demonstrate a willingness to learn financial accounting software and other programs as assigned.

    SALARY RANGE

    $35 - $45 per hour

    Non-exempt, full-time, year-round position
