The Archer School for Girls seeks a dedicated and passionate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Apprentice for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web development, app creation, and engineering concepts and a deep commitment to fostering a love for STEAM disciplines in middle and upper school students. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and guide students in exploring technology and engineering through hands-on projects and creative problem-solving.
The Teaching Apprentice gains hands-on experience by working alongside a mentor teacher to build a repertoire of forward-thinking, student-centered instructional practices. Ideal candidates have a growth mindset, a positive outlook, and a strong appreciation for the importance of contributing to a diverse and inclusive community. A passion for working with young people in a culture of teaching excellence is essential.
Responsibilities include:
· teaching with a mentor in your discipline
· provide teaching coverage across the curriculum
· participating in co-curricular school activities,
· providing administrative support as necessary
· supporting Archer Signature programs (i.e. Advanced Research, Artemis Center for Political Activism & Social Good, and Advanced Studies Symposium)
The Apprentice Program includes:

· Teach up to 2 classes with expert mentor teacher
· Ongoing collaboration on curriculum and lesson design
· A formalized teacher education program including:
o Pedagogical instruction on research-based practices
o Apprentice learning cohort
o Individualized goal setting and ongoing planning and reflection meetings
o Formal and informal observations with feedback
o Resources to develop a repertoire of teaching tools and routines
· Participation in all internal Archer PD
· Observation and collaboration with skilled teachers within and beyond subjects
· Peer support for professional growth, support, and reflection
Qualifications include:
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Education, etc.); Master's degree preferred.
· Demonstrated expertise in web development, app creation, and engineering concepts.
· Prior teaching experience, preferably in middle school or with students of similar age groups
· Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student collaboration and exploration.
