    The k-8 school librarian is a passionate and innovative educator, fostering a love for reading, promoting information literacy, and providing resources that inspire curiosity and creativity among our students.

    Live Oak is accepting applications for an k-8 school librarian to begin in August, 2025. Please submit a resume, cover letter.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and manage the school library's collection, including books, digital resources, and multimedia materials that reflect the diverse interests and needs of our students.

    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support inquiry-based learning initiatives.

    • Lead engaging storytimes, reading programs, and workshops that promote literacy and a love for reading among students.

    • Provide instruction on research skills, information literacy, and digital citizenship to students across all grade levels.

    • Create a welcoming and inclusive library environment that encourages exploration and collaboration.

    • Organize and host events such as author visits, book fairs, and reading challenges.

    • Stay informed about current trends in children's literature and educational technology to enhance the library program.

    • Support students in developing critical thinking and research skills through hands-on learning experiences.

    • Lead all aspects of Bookfest, including DEAR day and author’s visits. 

    • Actively engage with the school community, parents, and local organizations to promote library services and resources.

    • Recruit, train, lead, support and manage  library assistant and library volunteers in the administrative and student facing functions of the library. 

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Studies from an accredited institution.

    • Experience working in a K-8 educational setting, preferably in a progressive or constructivist environment.

    • Strong knowledge of children's literature and resources for young learners.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, faculty, and parents.

    • Proficiency in technology and digital resources, including library management systems and educational tools.

    • A passion for fostering a love of reading and learning in children.
