Viewpoint School is currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Director of the Lower and Middle Schools. The Assistant Athletic Director of the Lower and Middle Schools is responsible for managing and organizing all aspects of the lower and middle school athletic programs under the supervision of the Director of Athletics. This includes coordinating athletic events, supporting coaches, ensuring compliance with school policies, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for student-athletes. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for promoting physical activity and sportsmanship among middle and lower school students.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination
- Plan, organize, and coordinate all middle school sports programs, including practices, games, and tournaments.
- Work closely with sport program directors to build sustainable relationships between divisional programs. Clinics, camps and LS/MS Nights at US athletic events are areas we need to strengthen.
- Collaborate with the Physical Education Department Chair around LS and MS Physical Education program - goals, curriculum and execution.
- Teaching PE classes and/or covering classes for teachers who are out based on department needs
- Work closely with division admin to educate them and participate with them in communication and relationship-building
- Develop seasonal schedules for practices, games, and transportation.
- Ensure compliance with league rules, school policies, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and school leadership to align the sports program with the school’s mission and values.
- Attends all Delphic and SFVPSL league meetings.
Coach Support & Communication
- Lead in recruiting, onboarding, training, and mentoring middle school coaches.
- Support coaches with practice planning, game strategies, and student development.
- Meet regularly with the Middle School’s and Athletic Department's administrative team.
Student-Athlete Engagement
- Promote participation in sports programs and encourage all students to engage in physical activity.
- Foster a positive environment where student-athletes develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills.
- Monitor the well-being of student-athletes, ensuring a balance between academics and athletics.
Event & Facility Management
- Coordinate athletic events, including managing logistics such as venue setup, equipment, and scorekeeping.
- Ensure all facilities are maintained, safe, and prepared for practices and competitions.
- Oversee inventory and the maintenance of sports equipment and uniforms.
Parent & Community Involvement
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding schedules, policies, and program updates.
- Build relationships with families to encourage support and attendance at games and events.
- Represent the school in the community and during league or conference meetings.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in sports coordination, coaching, or athletic program management, preferably at the middle school level.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of youth sports rules, safety standards, and best practices.
- Proficient in using scheduling and administrative software.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Coaching certification or relevant training is a plus.
Compensation: Anticipated compensation is $70,000 - $80,000 depending on experience.
