Kindergarten Extended Day & Grade School Aftercare Program Aide

    The SFWS Grade School Afterschool Program is looking for a part-time Aftercare Aide to begin late August 2025. Hours range between 11:30pm - 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.


    Summary:

    The Aftercare Aide is an essential role for Kindergarten through 6th Grade children at the school, creating a daily and weekly rhythm that gives them the opportunity to partake in rest, snack, age appropriate activities, and time to play and relax after a long school morning.  

    The Aftercare Director will provide guidance and oversight for the Aide’s work with the children in the classroom and outdoor space.

    Responsibilities:

    • Set up the Kindergarten room for naps, creating a warm and welcoming environment for the children to rest 

    • Work alongside the Kindergarten Assistant and fellow ASP Staff to assist or work independently during rest and snack time

    • Hold a quiet late afternoon snack time

    • Help prepare one afternoon snack for the children

    • Supervise Kindergarten children during play time

    • Lead activities for the Grades children such as drawing, crafting, sports and outdoor play 

    • Clean-up of the classroom, including wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, and emptying compost, etc.

    • Work during our late winter and spring, one week camps

    • Clean-up of play yard after use, together with the children


    Desired Experience:

    • Bachelors in Education preferred

    • Waldorf Teacher Trained (or in process) preferred

    • 1-2 years of experience working with children indoors, outdoors and in a classroom setting required

    • Applicants must be familiar with and interested in Waldorf education

    • Good communication skills with colleagues and parents/guardians

    • Must have an interest in engaging children in crafts, drawing, circus related activities games, and other activities, both indoors and outdoors

    • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team with guidance from Kindergarten Faculty, Kindergarten Aftercare Coordinator and Aftercare Director

    • CPR/First Aid certified


    Compensation and Benefits: $29.00 per hour

    This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position. Benefits include those offered by the City of San Francisco, such as the San Francisco Sick Paid Sick Leave and San Francisco Health Care Ordinance. School ends on June 4, 2026.  This position does not continue during the summer break. Opportunities to work during summer camps may be available. School breaks and Holidays are unpaid.


    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    • Be able to occasionally lift 30 lbs.

    • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold

    • Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
